These passive solar pool heating rings are Heavy, double layer vinyl discs which float on the surface of your pool and function similar to conventional solar blankets. Except they are easier to manage and do not require solar cover reels to handle. They absorb and transfer heat energy from the sun to your pool, raising the water temperature. They also shield and insulate to help to prevent heat loss and evaporation.
The the two layers of the solar disc are made of heavy weight, UV resistant vinyl that gets inflated with air. The clear upper disc layer holds insulating air and also focuses sunlight on the lower blue bottom layer. The bottom blue layer of solar sun ring absorbs approximately 50% of sunlight and then converts the absorbed solar rays of sunlight to heat and transfers that heat to the pool water. It also allows the remaining sunlight to pass into the pool for heating deeper into the water.
The number of solar rings needed is recommended to be enough to cover 70% to 80% of the pool water surface for the desired heating. Each ring is 60 inches (5 feet) in diameter and features six magnets so that they can attach to one another in the pool. Solar sun rings are great for use in chlorine and salt water pools.
