Pool pH Reducer
Pool pH Reducer (sodium bisulfate) is used to decrease the pH level of swimming pool water. The pool pH should be maintained at 7.2-7.6 for optimum chlorine or sanitizer performance and best water quality. Proper pool pH (potential hydrogen) is one of the most important factors of pool water balance and routine pool maintenance.
Pool pH Reducer is a dry acid, granular product for slowly lowering the pH of pool water. It is safer to handle and store than liquid acid.
Pool pH reducer may be used for pools or spas to reduce pH and to also lower Total Alkalinity. A high pH and high total alkalinity may cause eye irritation, cloudy pool water, pool scale formation and reduce pool filter efficiency. If your pool pH is too high, lowering the pH level will boost chlorine effectiveness and the ability of the pool sanitizer to destroy bacteria and algae.
Pool pH reducer is also known as pH Minus, pH Decreaser and pH Down, depending on where you live geographically and which product brands are being sold in your area. pH Decreaser is compatible with and just as effective as Baquacil®, Soft Swim® and Revacil® biguanide pool chemicals too.
Recommended dosage: To lower pH, distribute a maximum of 1 lb. per 10,000 gallons of water directly into the deep end of the pool. Allow pool water to recirculate three to four hours, recheck and adjust further if necessary.
