A Solar blanket can save you hundreds of dollars in swimming pool heating cost every swim season! Solar blankets provide great passive solar heating because they have thousands of tiny air bubbles that capture free Solar Energy from the sun, then transfer that heat directly to the pool water. 

Swimming pool solar blankets are light to handle. They float on the pool water surface, and are made of thousands of tough, puncture resistant sealed air cells. These sealed air cells, are also called bubbles. The bubbles transfer the capturerd heat to the water rapidly and efficiently. The temperature inside the bubbles gets extremely hot. This is why pool blankets can raise the water temperature as much as 15 degrees! How well they work depends on the amount of sun exposure and how long the cover is on the pool. The other benefit of pool heating covers is that they insulate the water from being cooled by wind and low air temperatures. These pool blankets also reduce water evaporation, chemical usage and prevent pool heat loss by up to 90%! If you can reduce or prevent water evaporation, you help control and reduce heat loss. Many people have even used these as greenhouse covers to help insulate and protect the products they grow.

Pool blankets are available in standard blue, extra heavy and clear aluminized. We offer the popular Blue cover and our Ultra Therm clear blankets. Our clear is the thickest blanket. All of these blankets will do a fine job of warming and insulating the water, however those that are extra heavy are much tougher and last longer.
