It's filter flex tube design with it's New Easy Access is a simplified way to achieve maximum filter square footage area for superior cleaning. Using a bump activated regeneration handle rather quickly extends filter cycles and completely eliminates backwashing.

Hayward EC 40 D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) pool filters provide the cleanest water possible! The DE is a porous powder with microscopic openings that when magnified look like tiny sponges. Clear water can pass through these openings, but particles, as small as one to three microns, are trapped during the first pass through the media. Perflex DE filters have internal flex-tub elements that become coated with DE. It is this 'filter cake' on the tubes that strains dirt, dust, algae, and some forms of bacteria from the water to make it sparkling clear.
