The enzyme solutions do this by breaking down the contaminants molecule by molecule until they are reduced to their elemental constituents - carbon dioxide and water. Where do natural enzymes come from? Natural enzymes are derived from annually renewable vegetable sources - such as seaweed, malt and molasses; they are the fermentation of natural organics. How do natural enzymes work? Natural enzymes cause organic materials to biodegrade. That is, the organic materials are broken down into smaller and smaller molecules until they are finally reduced to their elemental forms such as carbon dioxide and water. They are a biocatalyst. Are natural enzymes toxic in any way? Natural enzymes are totally non-toxic and hypoallergenic. They will not cause irritation to eyes or skin and would not be harmful even if swallowed. They are so safe that they may be added while bathers are in the pool or spa.
